Washington Road connects the Westbourne Road area to the Lumley neighbourhood, running roughly north to south through the western residential part of Emsworth. The road is residential throughout, with semi-detached and terraced houses from the Victorian and Edwardian periods. The road is named with the broad, internationally-flavoured street names that were popular in the nineteenth century, though its connection to its namesake is nominal at best. Washington Road is a useful connecting route between the western approach to Emsworth and the town centre. The recreation ground is accessible from the southern end, and the town centre shops are a short walk to the east. The street is quiet and residential, with a settled community of families and longer-term residents.
