Emsworth Harbour
Landmark, Emsworth
Emsworth Harbour is a tidal inlet of Chichester Harbour, located at the foot of South Street. The harbour dries to mudflat at low tide and fills with the sea at high water. It served as the centre of the oyster fishery that made the town prosperous in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Today the harbour is used by small sailing boats and provides the setting for walks, birdwatching, and photography. The Quay at the harbour edge has benches and views across to Thorney Island.
