Slipper Mill Area
Tranquil area around the tidal Slipper Mill Pond, with waterside walks, birdlife, the converted mill building, and nearby Peter Pond.
The Slipper Mill area takes its name from Slipper Mill Pond, a tidal millpond on the southern edge of Emsworth that is one of the town's most recognisable features. The mill building itself survives in converted form, and the pond, which fills and empties with the tide, provides an attractive stretch of water that draws swans, ducks, and wading birds. The millpond is a popular spot for photography and gentle walking, with a path around its perimeter. The surrounding area is a mix of residential properties, some with views over the pond. Slipper Road runs along the eastern side of the pond and connects to the harbour shore. The area has a tranquil character, particularly at high tide when the pond is full and the reflections of the surrounding trees and buildings create a picture-postcard scene. At low tide, the exposed mud attracts feeding birds and the character changes entirely. Peter Pond, another smaller body of water nearby, adds to the watery character of this part of Emsworth. The Slipper Mill area is within a short walk of both the town centre and the harbour, and the combination of water, birdlife, and period buildings makes it one of the most pleasant corners of the town.
